2Al + Cr2O3 → Al2O3 + 2Cr
Genel Bakış
Aluminum reduces chromium(III) oxide in an aluminothermic reaction similar to the iron thermite reaction. The reaction produces aluminum oxide and chromium metal at extremely high temperatures. This is one method for producing chromium metal.

Günlük Örnek
This type of aluminothermic reaction is one of the methods used to produce the chromium used in stainless steel and chrome plating.
Endüstriyel Önemi
Aluminothermic reduction is used commercially to produce chromium, manganese, and other metals that are difficult to reduce by conventional carbon reduction.
