Epoxy monomer + Photoinitiator → Cross-linked polymer
Genel Bakış
Cationic photoinitiators generate strong acids upon UV exposure, which catalyze the ring-opening polymerization of epoxy groups. Unlike free-radical photopolymerization, cationic UV curing continues after the light is removed (dark cure) and is not inhibited by oxygen. This produces highly cross-linked, chemically resistant networks.
Günlük Örnek
UV-curable epoxy adhesives are used in electronics assembly, bonding glass to metal, and sealing fiber optic connectors.
Endüstriyel Önemi
UV-cured epoxies are essential in electronics manufacturing, optical fiber assembly, and protective coatings for circuit boards.
