Genel Bakış
The Suzuki reaction couples an aryl halide with an aryl boronic acid using a palladium catalyst to form a biaryl product. This cross-coupling reaction proceeds through oxidative addition, transmetalation, and reductive elimination steps. Akira Suzuki shared the 2010 Nobel Prize for this work.
Günlük Örnek
The LCD screens in phones and TVs use organic molecules made by Suzuki coupling for their liquid crystal and OLED materials.
Endüstriyel Önemi
Suzuki coupling is one of the most widely used reactions in pharmaceutical manufacturing, producing drug molecules like losartan and several anti-cancer agents.
