Ca(OH)2 + CO2 → CaCO3 + H2O
अवलोकन
Calcium hydroxide solution (limewater) turns milky white when carbon dioxide is bubbled through it, due to the formation of insoluble calcium carbonate particles. This is the classic test for carbon dioxide gas. With excess CO2, the milkiness disappears as soluble calcium bicarbonate forms.

रोजमर्रा का उदाहरण
The limewater test is taught in every introductory chemistry course as the standard qualitative test for carbon dioxide gas.
औद्योगिक महत्व
This reaction is used in flue gas desulfurization, carbon capture, and in the production of precipitated calcium carbonate for paper and paint industries.
