अवलोकन
Electrochemical machining dissolves metal from a workpiece (anode) in a controlled pattern using a shaped cathode tool and flowing electrolyte (typically NaCl or NaNO₃ solution). Material removal rates of 0.5–15 mm³/s are achieved without tool wear, heat-affected zones, or mechanical stress. The process mirrors the shape of the tool electrode.

रोजमर्रा का उदाहरण
Turbine blades for jet engines are precision-shaped by ECM to achieve complex airfoil profiles impossible to machine conventionally.
औद्योगिक महत्व
ECM is used in aerospace, medical implants, and die/mold making for machining hard alloys and complex geometries.
