Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is a cyclic ether widely used as a laboratory and industrial solvent. It is the preferred solvent for Grignard and organolithium reactions and dissolves PVC, making it useful for PVC pipe cement. It can form explosive peroxides on prolonged air exposure.
