Objective

Verify Boyle's law (P1V1 = P2V2) by measuring the volume of a trapped gas at different pressures.

Background

Boyle's law states that at constant temperature, the pressure and volume of a gas are inversely proportional. This experiment uses a closed syringe or J-tube manometer to measure gas volume at different pressures and confirm the relationship.

Procedure

Set up the Boyle's law apparatus with a known volume of trapped air. Record the initial pressure and volume.
