Aperçu
Strontium-90 undergoes beta decay to yttrium-90 with a half-life of 28.8 years. Sr-90 is a major fission product and is biologically dangerous because it mimics calcium and concentrates in bones. Nuclear fallout from atmospheric testing deposited Sr-90 worldwide during the 1950s-60s.

Importance industrielle
Sr-90 is used in radioisotope thermoelectric generators (RTGs), in industrial thickness gauges, and its daughter Y-90 is used in cancer therapy.
