Suzuki Coupling
ArBr + ArB(OH)2 → Ar–Ar + B(OH)3 + HBr
Visão geral
The Suzuki reaction couples an aryl halide with an aryl boronic acid using a palladium catalyst to form a biaryl product. This cross-coupling reaction proceeds through oxidative addition, transmetalation, and reductive elimination steps. Akira Suzuki shared the 2010 Nobel Prize for this work.
Exemplo do cotidiano
The LCD screens in phones and TVs use organic molecules made by Suzuki coupling for their liquid crystal and OLED materials.
Importância industrial
O acoplamento de Suzuki é uma das reações mais utilizadas na indústria farmacêutica, produzindo moléculas como o losartan e vários agentes anticancerígenos.
