CuCO3 → CuO + CO2
Visão geral
Green copper(II) carbonate decomposes when heated to form black copper(II) oxide and carbon dioxide gas. This is a classic laboratory demonstration showing the color change from green to black. The reaction occurs at relatively low temperatures (~290 C).

Exemplo do cotidiano
The green patina on copper roofs (like the Statue of Liberty) contains copper carbonate, which forms from the reaction of copper with air and rain.
Importância industrial
A decomposição do carbonato de cobre é utilizada em alguns processos de fundição de cobre e na preparação de óxido de cobre para cerâmica e pigmentos.
