El copernicio debe su nombre a Nicolás Copérnico. Los efectos relativistas podrían convertirlo en un gas o un líquido volátil a temperatura ambiente.

Acerca de Copernicio

Relativistic effects may leave copernicium a gas or a volatile liquid at ordinary temperature, which would make it the only metal of its group to behave that way; the database records its state as liquid. Element 112 takes its name from Nicolaus Copernicus and has a relative atomic mass of 285.0, with the configuration [Rn] 5f14 6d10 7s2 placing it in group 12 of period 7 below mercury. No electronegativity has been established. The filled 6d and 7s shells are so strongly bound at this nuclear charge that the element is predicted to hold its valence electrons more tightly than mercury does, weakening the metallic bonding that would otherwise keep it condensed.
