El hasio debe su nombre al estado alemán de Hesse. Se predice que es el elemento más denso, con propiedades similares a las del osmio.

Acerca de Hasio

Hassium is expected to be the densest of all the elements, a prediction that follows from its position in group 8 of period 7 directly beneath osmium, itself the densest element whose density has been measured. Its name derives from Hesse, the German state where the Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research is located. The atomic number is 108 and the relative atomic mass 277.0, with the configuration [Rn] 5f14 6d6 7s2 and no established electronegativity. Experiments on individual atoms have produced a volatile hassium oxide whose behaviour parallels that of osmium tetroxide, supporting the placement of the element within group 8.
