El nihonio debe su nombre a Japón (Nihon). Fue el primer elemento descubierto en un país asiático.

Acerca de Nihonio

Nihonium was the first element to be discovered in an Asian country, and its name comes from Nihon, one of the Japanese names for Japan. It carries atomic number 113 and a relative atomic mass of 286.0, with the configuration [Rn] 5f14 6d10 7s2 7p1 opening the 7p subshell in group 13 of period 7. Its electronegativity is not established and its chemical properties are classified as unknown. As with the other superheavy elements, nihonium is made by fusing lighter nuclei in an accelerator; confirmation of the discovery rested on observing consistent chains of alpha decay from the small number of atoms produced.
