El tulio es el lantánido menos abundante de la corteza terrestre. Se usa en equipos portátiles de rayos X y láseres de estado sólido.

Acerca de Tulio

The least abundant lanthanide in Earth's crust, thulium (Tm) is among the rarest of the rare earth elements. Element 69 sits in period 6 of the f-block, with an atomic mass of 168.93, the electron configuration [Xe] 4f¹³ 6s², and a Pauling electronegativity of 1.25. When irradiated in a reactor, one of its isotopes emits X-rays, which allows thulium to serve as the radiation source in compact, portable X-ray devices. The element also appears in certain solid-state and fiber lasers. A soft, silvery metal, thulium is solid at standard conditions.
