El rodio es el metal precioso más raro y valioso. Se emplea en catalizadores de automoción, joyería y como catalizador químico.

Acerca de Rodio

The rarest and most valuable of the precious metals, rhodium (Rh) commands prices well above gold and platinum. Element 45 occupies group 9 of period 5 in the d-block, with an atomic mass of 102.91, the electron configuration [Kr] 4d⁸ 5s¹, and a comparatively high electronegativity of 2.28. Its foremost application is in automotive catalytic converters, where it helps reduce nitrogen-oxide emissions, but it also serves as a reflective, tarnish-resistant plating for jewelry and as a catalyst in industrial chemistry. Rhodium is a hard, silvery member of the platinum group, solid at standard temperature and pressure and exceptionally resistant to corrosion.
