El kriptón es un gas noble empleado en ciertas lámparas fluorescentes y flashes fotográficos. Sus líneas espectrales llegaron a definir el metro.

Apariencia: Colorless gas, white solid

Acerca de Kriptón

A colorless noble gas discovered by William Ramsay in 1898, krypton fills atomic number 36 with an atomic mass of 83.798. Its outer shell is complete ([Ar] 3d10 4s2 4p6), giving eight valence electrons and, unusually for a noble gas, a measurable electronegativity of 3.00 alongside a first ionization energy of 1351 kJ/mol; it condenses at 120 K. Krypton is used in certain fluorescent lamps and photographic flashes, and its sharp spectral lines were once used to define the meter. The gas belongs to group 18, period 4, among the noble gases.
