Acerca de Cesio

Cesium (Cs) is the most electropositive of the stable elements, giving up its single outer electron with exceptional ease. Element 55 heads group 1, period 6, in the s-block, with an atomic mass of 132.91, the electron configuration [Xe] 6s¹, and the lowest electronegativity of any stable element at 0.79. Its defining application is timekeeping: the vibrations of cesium-133 atoms define the SI second, the basis of atomic clocks worldwide. A soft, highly reactive alkali metal, cesium is solid at standard conditions and, like others in group 1, reacts vigorously with water.
