El telurio es un metaloide quebradizo empleado en células solares, dispositivos termoeléctricos y como elemento de aleación en el acero.

Acerca de Telurio

Brittle and semiconducting, tellurium (Te) is a metalloid of group 16, period 5, in the p-block, bearing atomic number 52. It has an atomic mass of 127.6, the electron configuration [Kr] 4d¹⁰ 5s² 5p⁴, and a Pauling electronegativity of 2.1. The element's most prominent modern use is in thin-film cadmium-telluride solar cells; it also features in thermoelectric devices that convert heat directly into electricity and as an additive that improves the machinability of steel. Tellurium is solid at standard temperature and pressure and belongs to the same chalcogen group as oxygen and sulfur, though it behaves far more like a metal.
