CuCO3 → CuO + CO2
Descripción general
Green copper(II) carbonate decomposes when heated to form black copper(II) oxide and carbon dioxide gas. This is a classic laboratory demonstration showing the color change from green to black. The reaction occurs at relatively low temperatures (~290 C).

Ejemplo cotidiano
The green patina on copper roofs (like the Statue of Liberty) contains copper carbonate, which forms from the reaction of copper with air and rain.
Importancia industrial
Relevante en la producción de óxido de cobre para catálisis, semiconductores y pigmentos cerámicos.
