2Mg + O2 → 2MgO
Descripción general
Magnesium burns brilliantly in oxygen with an intense white flame to produce magnesium oxide. This reaction is so exothermic that it produces temperatures exceeding 2500 C. The bright light emitted was historically used in photography flash powder.
