2H2 + O2 → 2H2O
Descripción general
Hydrogen gas burns in oxygen to produce water with no carbon-containing products. This makes hydrogen the ultimate clean fuel. The reaction produces a very hot, nearly invisible flame. Hydrogen-oxygen mixtures are explosive within a wide flammability range (4-75% H2 in air).

Ejemplo cotidiano
Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles like the Toyota Mirai emit only water vapor from the tailpipe, as the hydrogen effectively combusts electrochemically.
Importancia industrial
La combustión del hidrógeno es central en la economía del hidrógeno para energía limpia. Propulsa motores de cohetes (el motor principal del transbordador espacial utilizaba H₂/O₂ líquido) y pilas de combustible.
